Kohli & Kohli Law Associates turns complex state and central regulation into structured pathways—so companies can protect long-term investments, adapt early to change, and expand with confidence.

Our Core Purpose & Approach

True corporate advocacy goes far beyond paperwork.

Navigating the intersection of corporate expansion and evolving state rules requires a clear understanding of the regulatory vision behind how frameworks are designed, analysed, and implemented.

Kohli & Kohli Law Associates provides that precise balance. We approach complex regulation with decades of firsthand experience and a firm willingness to step forward where others hesitate.

Rather than viewing state policy as a fixed boundary, we transform it into a structured pathway—allowing companies to protect long-term investments, adapt early to shifting environments, and secure stable conditions for growth.

Policy, not just procedure

We read the intent behind the framework, then build compliant strategy around it—before rules harden.

Fact-based advocacy

Every representation is built on transparent, data-backed legal and economic reasoning that earns credibility with ministries.

Measured, restrained counsel

A regulatory affairs firm—solution-oriented and discreet, focused on outcomes rather than noise.

“Known historically as the ‘Telecom Man of Punjab’ for his pioneering role in building early regional and national telecommunications networks.”

The firm’s strategic architecture is engineered directly around the legacy of its founder—an industry pioneer who has spent his career managing corporate affairs, business development, and large infrastructure programmes for some of South Asia’s largest promoter groups. Explore each chapter of that record below.

Established and ran the Corporate & Regulatory Affairs Division for 18 years, serving as the core regulatory anchor behind Indian market entry and joint-venture set-ups for world-renowned consumer and manufacturing brands—including Gillette, Duracell, Singer and Ensign Bickford.

Achieved a historic administrative clarification before central authorities that distinguished modern consumer razors from outdated small-scale industry reservations—protecting manufacturing lines and benefiting the entire Indian blade industry.

Cleared complex regulatory hurdles across the energy, steel, and natural-resource sectors:

  • 40+ environmental and forest clearances for mega-refineries, steel plants, ports, and coal-mining operations.
  • 100+ sovereign approvals—including 80 foreign-collaboration clearances and 15 petrochemical joint-venture layouts valued at $10 Billion—to implement the Gujarat Refinery Project.
  • Won the allocation of 11 Oil Blocks and 5 CBM Blocks through national (NELP) licensing rounds.
  • Arranged Ministry of Finance policy clarifications enabling $2.5 Billion+ in inbound foreign investment across telecom, steel, and power—accelerating project completion by two full years.

Awarded the title “Telecom Man of Punjab.” Established the group’s complete corporate affairs division and delivered one of the region’s defining telecom build-outs:

  • Deployed the entire OFC backbone, copper plant network, and CDMA wireless grid in Punjab within a record 18 months—over 250,000 connections, ₹380 crores saved, and revenue unlocked 30 months ahead of schedule.
  • Established the national industry standards and legal procedures for securing Right-of-Way (RoW) permissions.

Led high-level corporate affairs across deep infrastructure fields:

  • Secured 9 Industrial Licenses for defense manufacturing within 10 months.
  • Resolved a complex, 11-year pending Employee Provident Fund dispute.
  • Served as Project Director for the ₹225 Crore Water Purification Project across 850 villages in Bihar, and the ₹26 Crore Water Lifting, Treatment & Distribution project at the Kharagpur Reservoir.

Returned to the Group in a senior capacity to build out its modern corporate affairs function across strategic and defense-adjacent sectors:

  • Established a complete Corporate & Regulatory Affairs division for the Group from scratch.
  • Piloted and advocated policy issues across Defence, Homeland Security, Smart City, Safe City, and Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS).
  • Obtained 17 Industrial Licenses for defense equipment manufacturing within 7 months.
  • Secured MHA/security clearances for the company and all its directors.
  • Led business development for Defence, Homeland Security, Smart City, Safe City, ITMS, and Optical Fibre Cable exports.
